Weather and Climate
Throughout this unit we will be studying weather, climate, air pressure, wind, and more! By the end of the unit you will be able to predict the weather by analyzing weather maps and past weather conditions. Below you will find homework assignments, study guides, and other resources you can use to help you study and complete assignments.

Weather Prediction
Learning Goal #1: I can describe the flow of water as it moves through the water cycle.
Practice even more by labeling the parts of the water cycle!

Learning Goal #3: I can compare and contrast the composition of the atmosphere at different elevations.
Here is a website that explains the composition of our atmosphere as well as how our atmosphere changes as altitude increases: http://www.kidsgeo.com/geography-for-kids/0040-introduction-to-our-atmosphere.php
Learning Goal #4: I understand how the sun warms the earth and its atmosphere and how it influences weather.
Remember, the two main factors that cause global winds are:
1. The uneven heating of the earth.
2. The spinning of the earth on its axis.
Here are some websites that will help you learn about convection currents, wind, and clouds:

Learning Goal #5: I can describe weather conditions associated with frontal boundaries and the movement of major air masses and the jet stream across North America using a weather map.
Learning Goal #6: I can explain how global patterns of atmospheric and oceanic movement influence weather and climate.
- Ocean currents form due to the uneven heating of earth's surface.
- Ocean currents are caused by convection currents in the ocean.
- Coastal cities usually have lower average high temperatures than that of inland cities (during the spring and winter) because water takes longer to heat up than land.
